Artwork File Formats
Printers can handle grayscales of artwork, which creates a smoothing effect in the printed result. Laser engraving uses a burning technique that burns the image into the product pixel by pixel — regardless of shade level found in grayscale images.
Acceptable files
- TIFF, BMP, JPG or other raster images that are 1-bit black & white, camera-ready artwork. No grayscale. Minimum 300 DPI resolution.
- CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, EPS, or PDF vector artwork with all text converted to curves or outlines.
Unacceptable files
JPG or GIF images (or other low-resolution images) converted to TIFF/BMP — even if re-saved at 300 DPI — are not acceptable if the original was under 300 DPI. Re-saving a file as a new type does not increase the quality of the pixels. Images from websites are typically 72 or 96 DPI; please ask your company's graphics department for a high-resolution logo instead of using one off the website.
If you must use a low-resolution image, be aware the engraving may not look professional. We can re-design the artwork you supply, however a graphic design charge applies.
